Create Miracles in Your Life: Choice & Chance

Before I step on stage, I’ve most likely spent upwards of a month crafting the hourlong performance. I spend hours upon hours curating and practicing the effects and feats of impossibility, even more time in technical work, scripting, etc. What I spend the majority of my time in preparation for may come as a surprise to you.

Almost seven years ago, when I was developing my very first full length stage show, A mentor of mine said something I’ll always remember…

He said something along the lines of, “You have one hour to say whatever you want to an audience eagerly awaiting your words. Make what you say to the world important. If you were in that audience, what would you need to hear? Say it.”

I am blessed with this opportunity, every time I step on stage. Realizing it’s importance, I make sure that hidden in the nonstop laughter and jaw dropping magic moments, is a message. Something real, something vulnerable and something I think all of us could use hearing.

I addressed a recent experience of mine in this clip, the last words from the only heartbreak I’d ever experienced. These words haunted me for quite some time, until I changed their meaning. Choice and chance are not exclusive, nor do they need to be in conflict with one another. As a matter of fact, I’ve found that every time I feel my choices are aligned with my situation (chance) and vision of the future, miracles happen. Real miracles.
